Last night, HusbandMan and I went to see Food, Inc., which is all about how corporations control the food supply in the United States. Here’s the trailer for it:
I don’t want to spoil the movie per se, but I did want to note that it made me really think about my diet, what I eat, where it comes from and generally how big corporations affect our lives in ways that we rarely even consider. It also drew my attention to some of the major reasons to support local business, especially farmers and other food artisans. We had already made decisions to support local growers in large part because of the environmental impact and the benefits of better taste, but this further encouraged me to explore our local options.
The part that really got me? The stamping of the baby chicks in the plant. Yeah, I didn’t like that, and it made me really sad. ![]()
